Mood Boards

The mood boards were just bits and pieces of research to remind myself the style, themes and essences im aiming for throughout the animation.
A quick visual representation of the poems overall atmosphere.

A few pieces from my research into the era and answering a few of my initial questions.
I think knowing the style and look of the time will allow my sketches and storyboards and ultimately with hope the final animation to appear as authentic as possible.

MOOD BOARD 2: Heaneys Home and Childhood

Creating the right atmosphere is important, certain smells and objects can remind you of a very specific moment in time, vast amounts of tea cups, small sandwiches and quiet murmuring tend to remind most of a wake house, and if i use the right visuals i could possibly tap into an almost nostalgic emotional response form the viewers.
I want the viewer to practically taste the warm tea that just isnt hitting the spot, and the good bread and cakes that might as well be cardboard, small niceties that feel like bittersweet nothing in the moment of shock and loss.
